MayDay for women describe themselves as an underground resistance, standing up for the rights of women and children. They are allegedly Labour party supporters who feign outrage at the idea that transgender women are allowed the same platform in the Labour Party as people assigned female at birth. Desperate to see misogyny in the most harmless of situations, these people are trying to bring down Corbyn’s Labour by claiming outrage that Labour are planning to allow transgender people onto all women short lists. Emboldened by the onslaught against LGBT people in the right wing press, this sinister and nasty group are trying their best to create a hostile environment for those in the Labour Party who support a person’s right to choose the sex with which they feel most comfortable. This group of seemingly transphobic bigots are trying hard to get their hatred sanctioned by organising mass resignations from the Labour Party in protest at what they see as sullying their gender purity. They are the worst kind of feminists who set the cause for female equality back a hundred years. Owen Jones reported that in today’s Britain, eight in 10 trans young people report self-harm and nearly half have tried to kill themselves. How is a minority so afflicted with transphobia-induced mental distress supposed to feel with this relentless campaign against them? Note that 64% of trans school pupils have been bullied for their gender identity; and 38% of trans people have suffered physical intimidation. True feminism embraces all creeds colours and persuasions, and that includes those souls who wish to identify themselves as female MayDay isnt motivated by sisterly love or women’s rights, they have a thinly veiled agenda which is to score points against the democratically elected leader of the Labour Party, and it doesn’t take a genius to work out who is behind it. I wish to add my support to Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour party policy to include Transgender people as their identified gender. I do not believe for one minute that any man identifying as a female would do so just to get on a "women only shortlist." Therefore, I can only view this "Mayday" action as a ploy to undermine the Labour leader and an attempt to divide the party.

The MayDay women do not speak for me. Labour is inclusive and if these women feel the to resign it will be no great loss. Socialist except everyone and see a person, not a colour, not a gender and not a faith.

I find it interesting that these women style themselves Mayday: a name no true labour/Jeremy Corbyn supporter would do this side of Armageddon.

Saddened and disappointed at the vile and bigoted comments I have seen on social media directed at trans women who face incredible challenges and abuse on a regular basis.

Women's Officer for Manchester Gorton CLP here- I think it's so important to show our solidarity with trans gender rights, especially while some organisations are actively campaigning against these hard won rights. Our CLP unanimously carried a motion to actively support and campaign on trans gender rights and take seriously incidents of transphobia within our party. It's especially heartening to see the amount of support on here. Onwards sisters!

They're resorting to blackmail, so let them leave. There is no place for hatred and bullying in 2018. I stand with ALL women, no matter their journey. And I joined the party recently to show solidarity with my trans sisters. So, for every bigot who leaves, there's a sister who joins <3

Every woman should have the right that every other woman in the Party does. How could we call ourselves egalitarian if have a scale of a privilege in womanhood? Support your SISters not just your CISters

I am a 64 year old feminist and I fully support Jeremy Corbyn and his hope for a fairer and inclusive society and party, which must welcome trans shortlists.
