Since 2020 the Labour Party has been under new management. Jeremy Corbyn in 2023 sits in parliament as an independent MP.
Labour's new General Secretary was finally given the party's approval Saturday September 25, 2021, as this year's annual conference got underway.
It took a card vote, rather than a nod, to get the new Secretary David Evans approved. There had been predictions that would fail but in the end the vote was carried by 59% to 41% of delegates. Hardly a ringing endorsement considering that some delegates were auto excluded from attending conference at the 11th hour. Looking at the footage on the right of this text however it seems some Corbyn supporters managed to get into conference. When Evans, perhaps foolishly, asks why people joined the Labour Party some in the audience give a resounding Corbyn! |
