Having voted Labour in every election since I became eligible to vote more than 45 years ago I decided in early 2015, it was time to put my money where my mouth is.
I joined the Labour party ahead of the 2015 General Election. I voted for Andy Burnham in the subsequent Labour Party leadership election. But I had maintained through that leadership race that I would support whoever became the new party leader and I have been true to my word, unlike some Labour MPs and party members. The more I have learned about Jeremy Corbyn this year the more I have become convinced he is the best person to lead Labour forward, garner support for the party and make a real change to British politics. He is perhaps one of the last shining political hopes, a politician who is not for sale to the highest bidder. Perhaps that last statement is one reason some in the Parliamentary Labour Party want to oust him |
